Turn Any Laptop Into A Touch Screen with AirBar

AirBar Turn Any Laptop Into A Touch Screen Laptop

Users who want a touchscreen functionality for their laptops should check out the new Neonode AirBar, a plug-and-touch bar that attaches magnetically beneath the machine’s display.

AirBar makes PC screens come to life by bringing touch and gesture sensing to new or existing PCs.The Neonode AirBar will start working after it is plugged into a USB port. This will allow the bar to emit invisible light in order to start tracking the user’s movements and gestures akin to the tracking that is achieved when one uses a touchscreen-enabled machine.

Neonode Inc., the Optical Interactive Sensing Technology Company, today announced its new Bar sensor with zForce AIR™ technology, a device that enables touch functionality on new or existing non-touch PCs running Windows® or Chrome OS™ operating system.

Neonode will demonstrate AirBar during the electronics show in Las Vegas, from January 6-8, 2016.

AirBar is a slim module that is magnetically attached at the bottom of a PC’s display. When attached and plugged into the USB port the sensor is activated and starts to emit invisible light to detect the user’s touch and gestures. PC users can then interact with their devices using familiar touch actions like swiping, pinching, zooming and scrolling. Bar is a portable solution to be used at home, in the office, at school or when traveling and can be used with fingers, gloves, long fingernails and even paintbrushes.

Initially, the plug-and-touch bar will be available in a 15.6-inch version. The bar is designed with a magnetic strip, making it easy to be attached and detached anytime. Users can even opt to keep the bar attached without having to worry about battery drain.

However, keeping the bar attached to the display may affect the mechanism in closing the laptop, as the bar will also use up some space. Users are therefore advised to detach the bar if this is the case.
While the Neonode Air Bar works well with any device that runs Windows 8 or 10 or even with a Chromebook, it still needs to have proper OS X support.
