The iPhone 8 release date is expected to be September 9, 2017 that would be announced along with sibling upgraded iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
We are very close to the release of Samsung flagship Galaxy S8 that possibly be going to announce on March 24, 2017 along with various excitingly new features such as new personal assistant Bixby, great curved design and fabulous hardware such as snapdragon 835 chip for making phone work faster. This stunning smartphone from South Korea company is all set to give fighting competition to iPhone 8.
Three models -iPhone 8, iPhone 7s & 7s Plus
Like the rumors suggests, 2017 will be the 10th anniversary of iPhone and the company has big plan for this special year. It seems to be doing something usual that hasn’t happened before in the history. Apple is going to announce three models of iPhone this year; iPhone 8 (or iPhone X- X stands for 10) the upgraded versions iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.
Traditionally this should be the year of upgraded “S” models but the company has different planning this year. When the new iPhone 8 will all new iPhone, the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will have better features than its predecessor announced last year in September.
We haven’t seen three different models of iPhone (or even from the rival) being released at a time but I think it will give more choices to the customer to select model based on their preference. While they’d have to pay more than $1000 (according to BGR) for iPhone 8, the other two models are said to be relatively cheaper. So, if you purchase iPhone 7s or iPhone 7s plus, you can tell that you have been using 2017 model !
The only major difference that tech blogs are talking about, iPhone 8 will have OLED display that will add to the over all cost of iPhone 8. However iPhone 7s and 7s Plus would have the same LCD display.
iPhone 8 expected specs & features
- iOS 11
- Curved edge-to-edge OLED display (for iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will still use LCD display).
- Apple’s yet to be released A11 processor.
- 5.8-inch screen.
- 3 GB RAM.
- Dual-lens primary camera.
- Wireless charging.
- USB-C Port connector – doing away from Apple Lightning connector.
- IP68 rated Water Resistance.
- No Home button (virtual home button).
- 64 GB and 256 GB Internal storage.
- Massive 2,700 mAh Li-ion Battery.
- Different colors (addition of new red color).
- Price – Probably more than $1000
OLED Display –
The all new radical design would be the major cache of iPhone 8. The rumors suggests that the iPhone 8 will have OLED edge-to-edge display however the other two sibling featuring the same IPS display we seen with iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus last year.
The above images shows the new iPhone 8 will have 5.8 display that will be fit in 4.7-inch frame size – same as iPhone 7S. It is rumored to have back and front glass panel hold together via metallic frame. The bazel free top and bottom would give more space on the screen.
Operating system –
iOS is world’s most powerful operating system that can not be easily infected because of the security features it has got. iPhone 8 is believe to work on iOS 11 operating system that may be announced well before the release of iPhone 8 in September. However, this is just a rumors and we will have to wait for some more time to see what a new iPhone be working on.
The iPhone 8 will be the fasted phone till date with octo-core 3.2 Ghz processor and A11 chip that Apple will get ready before manufacturing of iPhone starts. It is also rumored to sport A10 X chip in place of A11. It leaves us with no choice than waiting for other reliable sources or confirmation from Apple itself.
If the rumors are to be believed, iPhone 8 may not be available in 32 GB model and there will be only two models of 64 GB and 256 GB internal memory sizes. According to press released published at trendforce, the iPhone 8 will be only 64/ 256 GB.
Since the base model itself has 64 GB internal memory, the price of iPhone 8 must relatively be higher than previous versions. Along with 3 GB RAM, and A11 processor, iPhone 8 certainly going to top the list of fastest smartphone of 2017
iPhone 8 will have having dual-lens primary again along with other features such as 4 x optical zoom for taking better pixel photographs from a long distance, optical image stablisation (OIS) technology, flash etc. There is no such rumors about the megapixel count but based on previous versions, we can expect iPhone 8 must have 15+ megapixel primary camera and 8 megapixel front camera.
The other two models – iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are too possibly get getting dual-lens camera.
According to Macrumors– on of the trusted source believes that iPhone will be designed to improve battery. It has been an issue for the customers that their Phone battery drain fast and this design could solve this problem to must extend.
The use of PCB mainboard will free some space to adjust high power 2,700 mAh two-cell battery. However the low battery problem can further be addressed by wireless charging feature that iPhone 8 will be having.
According to rumors, iPhone 8 will be getting wireless charging feature – a big relief to the people who use their iPhone more than a normal use and always complain about low battery. With this feature, the iPhone 8 would be able to get charged from 15 feet distance. However, trustedreview anticipates the company going to ditch Lightening connector to USB-C port.
IP68 water resistant
The other amazing feature iPhone 8 is going to have is IP68 rated water resistance. It would allow you to save iPhone 8 from water of 1.5 meter and more than 30 mins. IP 68 standard is for better resistant that IP67 offers to a smartphone.
iPhone 8 release date
The iPhone 8 release date is said to be September 7, 2017 that will align with the release of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus that took place last year in September itself. Also, the September release makes more sense because the company has been announcing the new version during the same time.
However, the latest rumors at BGR could be bit disappointing to the people who are desperately waiting for iPhone 8 to release as early as possible. If this news is true, iPhone 8 release can be delayed till November – doing away from September release cycle of the company. The delay could take place because of supplier’s inability to deliver material used for assembling iPhone 8. Release date of different models are below:
- Jun 2007 – iPhone (first)
- Jul 2008 – iPhone 3G
- Jun 2009 – iPhone 3G S
- Jun 2010 – iPhone 4
- Sep 2011 – iPhone 4S
- Sep 2012 – iPhone 5
- Sep 2013 – iPhone 5S
- Sep 2014 – iPhone 6/ 6 Plus
- Sep 2015 – iPhone 6S/ 6S Plus
- Sep 2016 – iPhone 7/ 7 Plus
- Sep 2017 – iPhone 8/ 7S/ 7S Plus
But, according to me, if Apple delays launch of iPhone 8 beyond September, it wouldn’t be able to take advantage of festive season sales and incur loss. Most of the units of iPhone are sold in the month of November and December due to festival season. Moreover, delay may result in giving Samsung more room to sell as much units of Galaxy S8 as possible, which is again a indirect loss to the company.
iPhone 8 Price –
The rumors suggest that iPhone 8 would be costlier than $1000 because of OLED screen that this stunning smartphone featuring. However, the other two models, iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus would be priced between a range of $850-$950.
