Lets get started to Root and install TWRP in your Galaxy J1 Ace. Your phone should be charged to atleast 30% before proceeding.Also make sure to enable USB-Debugging and OEM Unlock from developer settings.Please take a backup of your device before performing this action. I am not responsible for any kind of damages to your smartphone.

1)Download and Install Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace drivers from here.

2)Download and Install Fastboot and ADB drivers on your pc.

3)Download and extract lastest ODIN from here.

3)Download latest TWRP recovery from here: twrp-3.0.2-0-j1acelte.img.tar

4)Download from here.


1)Turn your smartphone off and boot your phone into “Download Mode” by holding Volume Down + Home + Power Button until you see a warning.Now press Volume Up to continue.

2)Go to extracted ODIN folder and run Odin3_v3.11.1.exe.

3)Connect your smartphone to PC using a USB cable.

4) After you connect the smartphone, Odin will automatically recognize your device and says “Added“.

5)After connecting your device,click on “AP” and select the downloaded twrp-3.0.2-0-j1acelte.img.tar.

6)Now click on Start in Odin and flashing process will be started.Wait for 20-30 secs for the flashing process to be completed.Then your phone will automatically reboot.

7)Now, after rebooting copy the downloaded into your sd card or phones memory.

8)Turn off the phone and boot into recovery mode by holding Volume Up + Home + Power Button until you see TWRP recovery.

9)Click on Install and select the downloaded from the list and perform “Swipe To Confirm” action.

10)Go back and click on REBOOT, then select System.Your phone is now rooted and you can see SuperSu app in your apps list.

You can confirm your smartphone root access by using Root Checker.

  1. You should make clear in your post that this procedure does NOT work on latest firmware from Feb. 2016.
    It’s only possible on older firmwares, and you have to activate developer options and activate “OEM Unlock” else you will get an error “binary blocked” when flashing TWRP.
    If you are going to publish something on the web, then please do not mislead users and post all relevant info!

  2. Please help me to install twrp recovery in Samsung galaxy j1 ace. I tried all method of installing twrp in my mobile but failed. So help me and i have new firmware.

    1. hey manish.I dont really own that phone but flashing through odin is the only method samsung phones support.Try rooting with kingoroot and use flashify app from playstore to flash twrp 🙂
