According to Macrumors (via theinvestor) which is one of the biggest tech blogs covering latest news about Apple’s products, the rumors which revolves around Apple and Samsung indicate that Apple iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus will come in sizes of 5.28-inches & 6.46-inches.

iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus

The Bell’s report dated 23rd May at thenvestor reveals that Apple has signed a deal with Samsung who has been company’s supplier for phone’s component to provide 180 million units of OLED display which is said to be one that company going to use for iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus.

The report clearly points out that 2018’s iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus will come in sizes of 5.28-inches and 6.46-inches.

The Apple company is famous for making small screen phones yet the most effective one but as the demand of larger screen phone raised, the company introduced bigger screen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S in sizes of 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches for the first time in 2014. Since then Apple continued with same screen sizes till the current version.

However, the company is rumored to do away from these two standard sizes with this years iPhone 8 that might also be called iPhone X or iPhone 8 Edition. The rumors suggest the iPhone 8 will have 5.8-inches OLED display that company have order from supplier Samsung.

Apple have ordered 80 million 5.8-inches OLED displays for this year’s iPhone 8 which will be released by the end of the year. The OLED display and 3D touch sensor technology may add up to the total cost of iPhone 8 that might go upto $1000 mark according to earlier rumors.

The other two models that company is going to release this year are iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus that come in standard 4.7-inches and 5.2-inches sizes with upgraded features. While the iPhone 8 will have OLED display which is bit costlier, the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S will feature LCD display.

Since the report talks about OLED display deals between Apple and Samsung, it makes sense to assume iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 both will have OLED display and the company may stop using LCD display. Moreover the quantity order (180 million) for the next year’s iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus is almost double of what company has ordered for this year’s iPhone 8 which again points out that both the models (iPhone 9, 9 Plus) will have OLED display.

Although Theinvestor is one of the reliable sources of news which accurately projected many things in the past but since the report only talks about the deal signed between two giants for supply of OLED display and doesn’t specify anything about the name of iPhone that this order have been placed for, we anticipate the order could be for providing OLED display for iPhone 8S and iPhone 8S Plus as well.

The history says it all, the company have always announced the upgraded “S” version of “full number” iPhone very next year, not “full number” iPhone altogether.

However, these are all rumors that may or may not turn out to be true. Take them with a grain of Salt !
